LIME CRIME VELVETINES- Mini Review!!

image

These came in the post for me today and as you can tell (because this review is up so quick) I am very excited!

‘Velvetines’ is the latest release from Lime Crime and is described on their website as ‘Long-lasting, waterproof liquid lipstick that goes on with the ease of gloss and dries completely matte.’

I hadn’t seen a product like this before so was definitely eager to try them out.

They currently come in 2 shades- Suedeberry which is a vibrant coral red and Red Velvet which is a deep blood red.

Swatched dry.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Because I have never tried a product like this before, I didn’t really know what to expect, but I was quite surprised with how ‘watery’ it was. It isn’t so much runny but it seems very thin and transferable when still wet. Once it has dried however, it doesn’t budge!

THE PRODUCT ITSELF

The formula is really nice and creates a good even finish. The colour pay out is superb (like most Lime Crime products!) and spreads across the lips with ease and comfort. Surprisingly it didn’t flake and is easy to add more layers without ruining the finish underneath. As the product is so runny I did struggle with keeping myself clean. I managed to get it all over my hands and transfer to various places over my face so I would take caution while its still wet. Another thing is that I really don’t like applicators and the Lime Crime one is no exception. I struggled to create a neat line on the edge of my lips so the use of a lip liner or brush is a necessity. What I admire is that unlike other matte products this one doesn’t feel drying on the lips which makes it more wearable.

Suedeberry

A really pretty shade, great colour for the summer as it is so vibrant and adding a pop of colour to any look.

Red Velvet

This is my absolute fave colour. I love all shades red but deep reds are my favourite. I would describe this as a blood red (before its dry it literally looks like blood on your lips!) and when it dries is the most amazing shade.

If you open up the box there are application and removal instructions inside (sneeaaaakkky). This isn’t my image I stole it from http://theboywithmakeup.tumblr.com/ because I don’t want to rip my box :(

MY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR THIS PRODUCT

  • Make sure your lips are well nourished to get the best even finish.
  • Use a lip liner or a brush to create a neat edge as doing this with the applicator can be difficult.
  • Remember- THIS PRODUCT STAINS!
  • Be cautious when the product is still wet as it is easily transferable onto hand and skin and difficult to remove.
  • Oil-free make-up removers won’t remove this product.

OVERALL

Overall so far I really like these lip stains! They are easy to apply, long wearing, smudge proof and waterproof- what more can you ask for! Not to mention the colours are amazing, I really hope they make some more- a deep burgundy would be to die for! And their packaging is so cute!-Always!

They are available from www.limecrimemakeup.com however if you are buying in the UK I recommend buying them from love-makeup.co.uk/. They deliver in 1-3 working days as opposed to waiting 1-6 weeks for your items and it is roughly the same price (cheaper in UK).

Prices are $16.99/£11.50 for 3g/0.11oz (US)

Check out these and let me know what you think!!

I was feeling inspired by purple- so I did a glitter brow.
I used Illamasqua’s Intense Lipgloss in Fierce then dabbed a purple glitter on top fading into a lighter purple.
I used Lime Crime’s Airborne Unicorn on the lips with Illamasqua Fierce over the top.
